Tor Andre Ljosland from Vestland County Council (r) led in the ribbon-cutting ceremony with Hilde Indresøvde from VIS
The Future Ocean Incubator was officially opened in a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Bergen. The incubator will aim to help entrepreneurs and startups in the ocean industries grow and scale their ideas into new businesses.
The incubator will work to provide these entrepreneurs and start-ups with support relating to all aspects of business development. This will include access to industry-specific networks, competence, guidance, and resources. It will serve to streamline business development, contribute to growth, and drive sustainability within Greater Bergen’s key ocean industries – offshore energy, seafood and aquaculture, clean shipping, and subsea energy among others.
In attendance was Tor Andre Ljosland, high-level politician for Vestland County Council, who led in the ribbon-cutting ceremony. In addition, speeches were given by heads of industry clusters and initiatives, including NCE Seafood Innovation, GCE Ocean Technology and the Havbyen Bergen.

Greater Bergen has long served as a key hub for the ocean industries. Its long history in many of these key sectors has cultivated highly developed knowledgebases, networks, and value chains.
The incubator is the result of cross-industrial collaboration. Key partners for the incubator include VIS, Connect Vest and Ocean Innovation Norwegian Catapult Centre, along with industry clusters NCE Seafood Innovation, GCE Ocean Technology and NOSCA Clean Oceans.
